Q: What is a Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)?

A: The RD and RDN credentials are one in the same and are interchangeable. However, RD is more often used is hospital or clinical settings whereas the RDN credential is used more often by dietitians practicing in other areas of the field. It’s a personal choice that you can make once you complete the following requirements:

 

 *Complete course work approved by the Academy’s Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

*Complete an accredited, supervised, experiential practice program at a health-care facility, community agency, and foodservice organization most often combined with graduate studies.

*Pass a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

*Complete a minimum of 75-hours of focused and relevant continuing professional education requirements every 5 years to maintain registration.

 

Q: What is a Certified LEAP Therapist (CLT)?

A: A Certified LEAP Therapist (CLT) must also be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and has received specialized, advanced clinical training in adverse food reactions, including food allergies, food sensitivities and food intolerance. CLTs utilize the Mediator Release Test (MRT) blood test to determine reactivity to certain foods and food chemicals and assist their clients with the LEAP Immunocalm Diet Protocols in order to reduce inflammation and relieve their symptoms.
